Welcome to Vyolet Chu's SpringBud Project PledgePage

The Story

In her travels to Yunnan Province in China in 1993, Vyolet visted a mountainous, poverty-striken area in Xishuangbanna, near the Burma border and was deeply touched by the friendliness of the people, and affected by their poverty which did not allow their children, particularly, their teenaged daughters to have an education.

Returning home, and in celebration of her 50th wedding anniversary, Vyolet asked her family and friends to help in setting up an endowment fund for the education of these young girls instead of gifts. The funds received then was able to allow 46 indigent minority teenaged girls to have the opportunity to be educated under the auspices of the All China Women Federation and their Spring Bud Project.

To date, this endowment has made possible the following:

  • Nearly 300 girls an opportunity at continuing their middle school education.

  • The establishment and purchase of sewing machines for sewing classes.
  • Purchase of forty-one computers and the establishment of a computer laboratory in Jan of 2002.

The Goal

Vyolet's fundraising goal for this year is USD$10,000.

A pledge of USD$100.00 will help a teenager to enter a boarding school for an entire school year.

A pledge of USD$5000.00 will provide a class of girls to study for a year in a boarding school.

Your generous donation will continue giving the most valuable gift to the lives of these girls, who will be the mothers of future generations of China.
